Principal's Message

August 28, 2017

Dear Charlestown School Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! As a learning community, we are excited to continue to use technology to enhance learning, increase student engagement and to help gauge student progress. Students in grades 2-4 will be using Chromebooks at a ratio of one device for every two students. We are implementing a new Social Studies curriculum and new science kits in Kindergarten and First Grade that are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. Additionally, we are increasing and enhancing our focus on social and emotional learning.

Our PTO Sponsored Outdoor Classroom Space is progressing. Old pavement was removed and new asphalt has been installed. The learning spaces are starting to develop and various planned components will be installed over the course of the upcoming school year. We look forward to using the spaces to further enhance student learning.

We are happy to welcome new staff members and some who are returning after working in other schools.

Denise Champney – Speech Language Pathologist

Heidi Fee – Grade 4 (returning from one year at Richmond School)

Kate Ficarra – Grade 3

Sherri Jackson – Library Media Specialist

Christine Miguel – Kindergarten Teacher Assistant

Britney Morenzoni – Grade 1 (returning from two years at Richmond School)
