Mission Statement and Polices and Procedures

  • Library Mission Statement: The mission of the Chariho Regional High School Library Media Center (LMC) is to ensure opportunities and support for students and staff; 1) to become effective users of ideas and information, 2) to increase understanding of responsible digital citizenship, and 3) to pursue personal interests. The LMC is fully integrated into the education initiatives of the district by providing collaborative instruction, resources in multi-media formats, and programs that support the curriculum, teaching and learning.

  • Hours: The LMC is open daily from 7:10 am - 2:25.  Librarians are available to assist students after school on Monday and Wednesday.

  • Book Loans: 3 week loan period.  Books are renewable as long as there are no holds on them.  Up to 7 books may be checked out to a student at one time.  Overdue notices are sent to student email accounts. If there is no timely response, a notice will be sent home and/or a call home will be made.  Payment of the replacement value of any lost item is required. A full refund will be issued, if lost item is found and returned within 60 days.
  • Interlibrary Loan for Chariho Students:

The interlibrary loan service accesses the catalogs of over 191 Rhode Island schools.  Request a book and it will be delivered to Chariho in about a week to 10 days.  This service is free to all students.  When on the library catalog, login in at the top right corner of the screen.  The username is cho (plus your 6 digit student id) cho123456 and the password is cho.  When searching for your book, select 'RICAT' in the location drop down menu and once you find what you are looking for, simply select 'HOLD IT!' and you will receive a message stating that your book is on hold and you will be notifed when it arrives.

  • Interlibrary loan for non-Chariho students:  3 week loan period with 1 renewal.  Payment of the replacement value of any lost item is required.
