Conscious Discipline - Cheryl Cotter

    When  the classroom is running smoothly, it is easy for teachers to  model a positive conflict resolution approach.  However, when challenges arise and the environment is stressful, what happens to our approach?  Each classroom is a school culture.  Conscious Discipline is a comprehensive social and emotional intelligence classroom management program that empowers both the teachers and students.  Conscious Discipline helps professionals to become conscious of their behavioral patterns so they can teach students how to learn and listen to their internal guidance system.
    
Participants will learn that:
    •  Conscious Discipline (CD) is a multidisciplinary approach based on three distinct brain-body states in adults and children that drive behavior.
    •  It provides the seven powers for conscious adults to help teachers see conflict differently and the seven basic skills of discipline that empower teachers to respond to conflict in a way that instills life skills.
