From Superintendent's Convocation Introduction:

 

   THIS YEAR’S RECIPIENT STARTED AS A LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE AT HOPE VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN 1999.  LATER SHE WORKED AT THE LITTLEBROOK CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN WESTERLY AND AT THE LAUREL BAY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN SOUTH CAROLINA.  SHE IS A UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND GRADUATE, AS WELL AS A GRADUATE OF RICHMOND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND CHARIHO HIGH SCHOOL. TODAY, OUR TEACHER OF THE YEAR SERVES OUR STUDENTS AS A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER AT RICHMOND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  

HER PRINCIPAL ADDS, “SHE HAS COMPASSION AND PATIENCE FOR THE STUDENTS WHO NEED IT MOST.  SHE IS ALWAYS SMILING AND HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR.  SHE IS A FOREVER LEARNER.  SHE IS ALWAYS THE FIRST TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND SHARE HER KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS.  SHE IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED ON OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM AND PTO.  SHE ATTENDS MANY EVENING EVENTS AND PARENTS APPRECIATE HER DEDICATION TO OUR SCHOOL.”
