Student Log-In from Home

Question: How can a student login to Performance Matters if they are learning remotely?

Answer:
1) The link for students logging in to Performance Matters may be found on most of the school websites as well as in the Chariho Links [If they login to the Chrome browser (even at home)}. Here is a direct link: https://ola.performancematters.com/ola/ola.jsp?clientCode=ricrsd
2). Teachers can also add the link in their Google Classroom. Students would then type in login information and password. It could be added as a topic with the link to Performance Matters Student Login as the assignment or material, to make it easier for DL students to find. Contact our DL Fellow if assistance is needed.

Save time-Reuse PM Tests

Save time! Reuse PM Tests by simply setting an updated test window......

For tests already entered in the platform from last year, to administer this year all you have to do is update the Testing Window, and the test is ready to administer. If you need to edit the test, you can simply make a copy, then just add or delete individual questions as needed.

Gr. 3 and 4 ELA RICAS 2019 Items added!

Go to the Performance Matters webpage under "Staff Resources" on our district site, and you will find the link to the RICAS Released Test Items now entered in the platform.

All released Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 ELA and Math Items can now be used by teachers in the current grade, and to review results with students from the prior year.
Along with the items, I created a Test for each grade level/subject. In this way, teacher’s can create their own tests if they just want to choose a few items, or type in the given Test number, “copy” it, then remove or add items to the test that they would like to use at that time.

Gr. 5-8 Math will be the next priority.....

What if a student does not finish the test?

If there is an unseen emergency and you need to administer a test over more than one day, at the end of testing you should selected those students and move them to "Locked Status". You can then "unlock" them the next day of testing so they can continue the test.

Do not score rubrics/tests until the students have "Finished" the test.

2019 RICAS Rel Test Items

2019 Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 Math RICAS Released Test Items have been entered into the Platform for all teachers to use.
Here is a listing of each Item # and a Test # with all the items for teacher use.
A teacher might create a test with just a few items to create a formative assessment, or might even just add one item to a Test to give to students. In almost all cases, the question will be administered as it was on RICAS.

Work has begun on 2019 Gr. 5 Math RICAS, and then we'll start Gr. 6-8 items.

What if you want to administer a test over more than one time period or day?

In the "OLA Test Administration" window, the teacher would move the student(s) to "LOCKED", then move them back to "IN PROGRESS" when it is time to finish the test. In this way the teacher controls when the student(s) can participate in testing.

How to include a Word Processing toolbar

For an Extended Text Response, you may want to include a Word Processing Toolbar for students to use in their response (to bold, italicize, etc.). This does not include any spell check.

See the screenshot below of how you make this selection on the item Interaction.

Rubrics-Assigning Permissions

When creating a rubric, don't forget to also assign permissions if you want others to be able to read the rubric you created.
You can see the screenshot example below, where the creator of the rubric has rights to "read", "update" (edit), and "admin" (add/delete permissions). We created a group called "All Test Scorers" (which includes teachers, school admin, and principals, which can now "read" or see this rubric.

How To: What if a student leaves a question unanswered?

There are two ways to address any questions a student leaves unanswered. A new "How To" 2-page document shows the teacher "how to" resolve the issue. it is now posted on our Performance Matters site under Assessment Resources.

Filter by School of Enrollment

When looking at schoolwide data (those with a "School Admin" or "Principal" role), be sure to filter by "School of Enrollment".

Especially useful at Ashaway, CMS, and CHS, as students from the Chariho Alternative Learning Academy may attend general education classes in these schools and be listed.

Tips for Inserting a Resource Passage which scrolls

For students to be able to highlight in a PDF when it is added to an Item. In order for a passage with any length to populate with a scroll bar, add the passage as a "Resource" first.
1. Go to "Items" - "New Resource"
2. Change the drop down from "File" to "Edit"
3. Paste the passage into the edit screen
4. Format as you'd like, insert pictures individually
5. Use the passage name as the Title, DO NOT use any "." in the Title or it will not save

The when creating the Test Item, suggested you use the "Side by Side" Template, adding the Resource on the left side, the question on the right hand side.
