Welcome from the Superintendent

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new website of the Chariho Regional School District. The District serves the communities of Charlestown, Hopkinton, and Richmond and includes four elementary schools, a middle school, a high school/regional career and technical center, and an alternative school. Approximately 3,500 pre-kindergarten through grade twelve students attend our schools.

The District encompasses 127 square miles in southern Rhode Island that include oceanfront, rural, and suburban areas. The member towns boast an abundance of golf courses, turf farms, and beaches. An ideal place to raise children, one only has to visit the tri-town area to develop a great fondness for it.

Our schools are highly rated and have received numerous recognitions. Chariho Regional High School is ranked by US News and World Report as 6th best in Rhode Island, and in the top 10% in the country.   It is the top ranked high school with a career and technical center in Rhode Island. Both Hope Valley and Ashaway Elementary Schools are rated as 5-star elementary schools, the top rating by the Rhode Island Department of Education. These accomplishments are largely due to the fact that the three towns served by the District support a high-quality and rigorous public education. We are more determined than ever, in spite of economic challenges, to deliver the best possible educational experiences to our students.

A personal invitation is extended to all community members interested in high-quality public education to share your thoughts, comments, and suggestions with me. We can only become more effective in meeting the needs of each and every child when collective thinking informs action. You can reach me by phone at 364-7575, by email at Barry.Ricci@chariho.k12.ri.us, or by mail at 455A Switch Road, Wood River Junction, RI, 02894. You can follow us on Twitter @CharihoRegional. I look forward to hearing from you!

I hope that you will find your visit to our website helpful and informative. Please return often.
